Our Platform

IOEMA’s platform is built around our 3S architecture, which combines configurability, monitoring compatibility, and resilient system design within a long-life subsea infrastructure model.

Switchable

IOEMA’s platform is designed with a high degree of configurability. Systems are designed with a proportion of fibre pairs configurable prior to deployment, with the remaining proportion capable of being configured throughout the operating life of the system. This architecture allows capacity to adapt to evolving traffic patterns, customer requirements, and routing needs, reducing long-term obsolescence risk compared with traditional fixed point-to-point systems and supporting greater flexibility over the life of the asset.

SMART

The platform is designed to enable the incorporation of embedded monitoring and sensing capabilities, including environmental and distributed acoustic sensing (DAS-ready) infrastructure. These features are intended to support operational awareness, environmental observation, and scientific use cases within sovereign waters, enhancing long-term asset relevance and enabling non-commercial, public-value applications alongside core connectivity services.

Secure

Our systems are designed in line with the highest established subsea security and resilience practices. Our first system, IOEMA-1, includes full armouring and full seabed burial along the entire route, with enhanced double-armour protection and deeper burial at shore ends. Equipment and route design are intended to support long-term physical resilience and operational reliability.

Together, the 3S architecture defines a configurable, monitored, and resilient subsea infrastructure platform designed for long-life, infrastructure-grade performance. These core design principles reflect the growing demands of our customers and the increased public responsibility that arises from the recognition of subsea connectivity as critical national infrastructure.
